1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using the Artha mobile application ("App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.
2. Description of Service
Artha is a personal expense tracking application that allows you to:
- Manually record income and expense transactions.
- Scan receipts using AI to automatically extract transaction details.
- Chat with an AI assistant for financial insights and expense analysis.
- Categorize and organize your spending.
- Set budgets and track your financial goals.
- View insights and analytics about your finances.
- Manage multiple accounts (bank, cash, credit cards, wallets).
- Track debts and loans with payment schedules.
- Share receipts directly from your Photos app to Artha for instant AI analysis (Share Extension).
- Use voice input to add transactions hands-free.
3. Account Registration
You may use the App with or without creating an account:
- Guest Mode: Use the App without registration. Data stays on your device only.
- Registered Account: Create an account with email/password, Google Sign-In, or Apple Sign-In to enable cloud sync and multi-device access.
If you create an account, you are responsible for:
- Maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
- All activities that occur under your account.
- Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.
4. User Responsibilities
You agree to:
- Provide accurate information when creating your account and entering transactions.
- Use the App for personal or small business expense tracking purposes.
- Not use the App in ways that violate these Terms or applicable laws.
- Not use the App for any unlawful purpose.
- Not upload content that is harmful, offensive, or violates any laws.
- Not commercially redistribute or resell the App or its features.
5. AI-Powered Features
The App uses artificial intelligence for receipt scanning, transaction categorization, and financial insights. You acknowledge that:
- AI-generated results may not always be 100% accurate and should be reviewed by you.
- Receipt scanning results are suggestions that you can edit before saving.
- Financial insights and recommendations are for informational purposes only and do not constitute financial advice.
- You are responsible for verifying the accuracy of all AI-processed data.
5.1 Cloud AI vs. Local AI
The App offers two AI modes:
- Cloud AI (OpenRouter): Provides more powerful AI analysis by using OpenRouter, a third-party AI service. By enabling cloud AI, you consent to sharing your chat messages and transaction context with OpenRouter for processing. Requires explicit opt-in consent.
- Local AI (On-Device): Processes all data locally on your device without sending any information to external servers. Available on compatible devices.
You can switch between cloud and local AI at any time in Settings.
6. Financial Disclaimer
Artha is an expense tracking tool, not a financial advisory service. The App does not provide:
- Investment advice, tax advice, or financial planning services.
- Guarantees about financial outcomes.
- Professional accounting or bookkeeping services.
- Certified financial advice from licensed professionals.
Important: AI-generated insights are automated observations based on your data patterns, not personalized advice from a qualified financial advisor. You should consult a licensed financial professional for advice specific to your situation.
Artha is not a bank and does not move money. It is a tracking tool only.
7. Intellectual Property
The App, including its design, code, features, and content, is owned by Artha and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App for personal or small business purposes.
8. Data & Privacy
Your use of the App is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your data.
Key points:
- All financial data is stored locally on your device by default.
- Cloud sync is optional and requires an account.
- Cloud AI features require explicit consent and use OpenRouter (third-party AI service).
- You can delete your account and all data at any time.
9. Service Availability
We strive to keep the App available at all times but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may:
- Perform maintenance that temporarily affects availability.
- Modify, suspend, or discontinue features with reasonable notice.
- Limit or restrict access if we detect misuse or violations of these Terms.
Local-First Design: Core expense tracking features work offline. Cloud features (sync, cloud AI) require internet connectivity.
10. Limitation of Liability
Artha provides the App "as is" without warranties. While we take reasonable measures to protect your data and ensure accuracy, we are not liable for:
- Data loss due to device failure, network issues, or third-party service outages.
- Inaccuracies in AI-processed data or financial insights.
- Any decisions made based on information provided by the App.
- Indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from use of the App.
Recommendation: We recommend regularly backing up your data (export feature available in Settings).
11. Account Termination
You may delete your account at any time through the App settings (Settings > Profile > Delete Account, accessible within 2 taps). We may terminate or suspend your account if you violate these Terms.
Upon termination:
- All your data on our servers will be permanently deleted within 30 days.
- Local data on your device will be immediately cleared.
- You will no longer have access to cloud sync or multi-device features.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the App or via email. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
13. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in India.
